Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Palace of Versailles was the residence of three French kings, Louis XIV, Louis XV, and Louis XVI, their courts, and the French government from 1682 to 1789. Your guide will stay with you throughout the day as you discover the majesty of the Palace of Versailles and its most beautiful rooms (guide commentary will be played through individual headsets). The supreme symbol of royal power, admire the sumptuous decoration, the palace’s Baroque architecture, its works of art, and period furniture, all created by skilled craftsmen. After your tour, spend time exploring the beautiful formal gardens. The second part of your visit includes an afternoon tour of the Small and Large Trianons and the Queen’s Hamlet, located in a distant and peaceful corner of the palace’s grounds.

Set off at 8:15 a.m. for a Paris to Versailles tour. Make the most of the 45-minute journey by air-conditioned coach and listen to your guide’s introduction to the history of Versailles.

The Palace of Versailles covers an area of over 721,000 square feet and has more than 700 rooms. Follow your guide right to the front of the line with priority access to the palace’s most beautiful rooms: the King’s Apartments, with seven elegant salons all dedicated to a different god, and the Queen’s Apartments, including the Queen’s Bedroom, where Marie Antoinette once slept. Also, marvel at the majestic Hall of Mirrors, a large reception room in which to see and be seen, dreamt up by the architect Jules Hardouin-Mansart. Designed to leave visitors to the Sun King speechless, this huge hall with marble and gilded bronze decoration was somewhere to stroll and meet. It was also the setting for sumptuous receptions and royal wedding balls.

After visiting the palace, make the most of your free time to explore the gardens: admire the many works of art (including more than 200 statues), fountains, ponds, flower beds, and trees.

You will then head towards the Grand Trianon by crossing the park forest. You will already feel away from the crowd that came to visit the Castle, the atmosphere there being calm and silent. After the Revolution all kings and emperors had chosen the Grand Trianon as their main residence, the last king of France Louis Philippe did just as Napoleon as well.

You will see bright rooms with sometimes surprising colors. After this visit of the Grand Trianon, you will take the path that will lead you to the Petit Trianon. On the way you will see part of Marie-Antoinette’s tree that was destroyed in the 1989 storm. The Petit Trianon was built for Madame de Pompadour by Louis XV.

Marie-Antoinette then took it over and enjoyed welcoming her friends there. The Petit Trianon is composed of small rooms that reflect a simpler life in an elegant but less majestic setting than the Palace of Versailles. You will continue your stroll towards the Queen’s Hamlet. You will walk along small paths and be amazed by the landscape in a very special atmosphere, you will pass in front of the Temple of Love. You will finally arrive at the Queen’s Hamlet, Marie-Antoinette’s main residence. She was an excellent mother and loved this place, far from the splendour of royal life. The hamlet is made up of several small houses that are not accessible but charming to contemplate from the outside. You will enjoy free time to explore the Petit Trianon estate and will be able to reach the farm where Marie-Antoinette loved to take care of the animals.

You will find your guide who will take you back to the bus located at the bottom of the park, a few meters from the Hamlet. You will leave for our agency in Paris where you will arrive around 6pm. This day will have brought you many acquaintances, beautiful images and pleasant walks.
